9 Back to School Quotes to Share with Your Friends Today (and a free printable!)

Anyone else have a hard time transitioning from summer brain to back-to-school brain? I know I do!

We all need help — parents, students, and teachers alike — as we make the mental leap from summer time to early school mornings. It’s my hope that these back to school quotes inspire you to remember all the great things about this time of year. Because sometimes we need a little reminding in that department…

I mean, there are so many things to cross off the back to school checklist that sometimes I just get caught up in the rush of it all. Open houses, registrations, parent meetings, school supply shopping — it’s nuts for a couple weeks! Am I right?

And don’t get me started on transitioning from a summer schedule to a school schedule. It’s hard waking the kids up earlier in the mornings and getting them dressed and fed in time to catch the morning bus. (Why, oh why, do those busses have to come so early!?) And packing school lunch every day? Forget it. (Wait, no, don’t actually forget it. Nightmare scenario!)

It takes me a solid two or three weeks to accept the fact that summer has moved on, despite what the temperature outside says. And then all of a sudden the hubbub dies down. The kids are back in school, and there’s a momentary lull in the activities, and you realize — was I ready for all this?

That makes me wonder — were my kids ready for this? I’ve got a new kindergartener this year, and I’ve done my part in kindergarten readiness, but how much can you actually prepare a child for a transition like that? It’s no wonder they might be a little cranky for a week or so — or come home and take a once-in-a-blue-moon nap. There’s a lot changing in their little worlds.

So I hope that these back to school quotes will set you in the right frame of mind for a better school year and inspire you to extend grace to others as everyone accepts change at a different pace (ahem, some more slowly than others — I’m raising my hand).

Feel free to share these quotes on Facebook and Pinterest with your other friends who are braving the back to school routines. There is strength in remembering we’re all in this together. Without further ado:
